Cover Art Inspiration!

While we were recording our film, the director and I have been researching different sources to create cover art for our film! Similar to how professionals make movie posters promoting their film, we've accumulated a lot of images that inspired our film cover.

We're making more than one cover, and the minimalistic style we've seen in mainstream action movies have inspired our cover art ideas.

For example, we found this image from the series Moon Knight.

This was our main inspiration when forming ideas for our cover art. This style helped us create a main aspect in our film, which drove the plot in the end.

We, of course, found ways to incorporate chess pieces into our cover image. I found idea images for our cover art (which I will create during the editing process).
When introducing ourselves to the main plot, with the Queen, King, and Rook as the main focus, we originally looked for image inspiration with these pieces as the main focus. None of the references we found fit our image or story, though images like these were commonly admired by the group.

This was the next phase of images, where chess pieces would be falling out of the sky. Again, images like this didn't fit our image but were admired by the group.

We were very keen on lighting and pictures that had a lot of space to include anything we thought of. The amount of space allowed for creativity to flourish.
Our director created this cover image using these inspirations, and an object that drove the entire plot of our film. We'll be creating different versions of this cover art, as well as creating drafts for new ones to see which ones work the best, but I'm very proud of what we have so far!
